Add Color To Your Home

The color you choose to paint the walls beautifies everything else that is in it. Colors could be warm, cool, exciting or calm. Hence depending upon the mood you want to set in your room, you could color it accordingly. Colors of the rooms could also, in a way reflect your personality. The thumb rule for coloring a particular room is to always have the doorways and the ceiling painted with couple of shades lighter than the paint inside the room. This will help the eyes adjust to the color and appreciate the finish of the inside walls. Ceilings should be light as they cast their shadow on the room and hence a dark color could possible make the room look slightly darker. Again, you could choose the brighter, darker colors for more spacious, airy rooms with lot of sunlight. On the other hand to conserve light in smaller, darker rooms, you should go with the lighter shades. The same holds with the bathrooms. It should have a shade or two lighter than the bedroom, to continue the theme and yet not be too suffocating. The towel holders, pendant fixtures and corner sinks should be probably brighter and lighter in shade if you choose darker walls. Taking the living room carpet photo or the bed's image to the paint store helps you make decisions easily. The sales person too could make suggestions. Colors vary slightly depending on the light around and hence before choosing on a particular paint color is advisable to observe it in various lights inside and outside the store. If you have a photo of the room for which you are buying the paint, the texture of the walls, the color of the furniture and the lighting could help you determine what shade to pick. The blinds you use on windows should also complement the color you pick for the walls providing a healthy and concordant variation.
